Symone McDaniels

Regional Coordinator, San Diego/Imperial Valley

Symone McDaniels is one of two Guided Pathways Regional Coordinators serving the San Diego/Imperial region. She is passionate about restorative justice and dedicated to elevating student voice and experience in education. Symone is originally from Vallejo, California and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in New Media at the University of California, Berkeley.

After years spent in the San Francisco tech industry, she earned her Master of Arts in Communication and served as a Graduate Teaching Associate at San Diego State University. Symone later joined Grossmont College as their General Tutoring Center Specialist and became Supervisor of Learning Assistance, managing multiple tutoring centers and a new early alert and retention program.

Symone is passionate about integrated support for learners and believes in creating the equitable interventions that community college students deserve. For the last 3 years, she has been a faculty member at San Diego Mesa College while running both graduate and undergraduate supplemental instruction programs. When she isn’t working with students or tutors, Symone loves to travel and is frequently found kayaking or chasing after her feisty pomeranian puppy Roo.
