Manager of Policy Research

Amparo Diaz, Senior Policy Specialist at the Success Center, provides research and policy support to the California Community College Chancellor’s office. This includes conducting and evaluating higher education research and leading policy development activities. Prior to joining the Success Center, Amparo was the Government Relations Associate at the California State Student Association (CSSA) where she served as an advocate for the nearly half a million students enrolled in the California State University (CSU) system. Her legislative portfolio included student’s basic needs, civic engagement, housing affordability, undocumented, DACAmented and mixed-status student support, as well as, financial aid. Prior to joining CSSA, Amparo worked at Sacramento State’s Center for College and Career Readiness, where she conducted research on college readiness and provided outreach to local high school and middle school students. Amparo spent time in the California State Legislature and interned for Senator Kevin de Leon and Senator Jim Beall. Currently pursuing her Masters in Public Policy and Administration at Sacramento State, Amparo completed her BA in Sociology at Sacramento State and attended both San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College.
