Karen Wong is a Senior Project Specialist at the Success Center, offering project management experience acquired from learnings across various industries from hospitality, civil service, to education. Karen utilizes her skills in project management, lean process improvement, and analysis to assist on multiple projects and to streamline workflows. Prior to joining the Foundation of California Community Colleges, Karen was a financial analyst and compliance officer at the Boeing Company for seven years. Her endeavors to gain project management experience led her to role at Universal Studios Hollywood, where she spent four years working alongside theme park executives and operators to conduct efficiency studies and develop more streamlined processes and operations for improved guest experience. More recently, Karen has shifted her focus to civil service with opportunities to work with the executive teams and senior management at the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) and California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) to develop and establish organization-wide performance metrics and risk mitigation plans, respectively. Karen holds a master’s degree in hospitality management from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.
