Irma Castañeda is a Policy Specialist at the Success Center for California Community Colleges. In this role, she provides research, data analysis, and policy development support for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO). She has a background in college advising and case management working with mostly first-generation, low-income, students of color. As a student from a similar background, Irma is passionate about advocating for equitable policies that promote the educational success of historically underserved students. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and Spanish from Wheaton College (IL) and her Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As a graduate student, she interned for the CCCCO, conducting research on college promise, and worked as a research assistant at UCLA, conducting research on college recruiting and access and the juvenile justice system.
