Elizabeth Ortega

Student Assistant 


Elizabeth Ortega is a student assistant on the business operations team. She is currently studying at the University of California, Santa Cruz where she is pursuing a double major in Sociology and Latin American and Latino Studies/Politics. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, Elizabeth plans on attending law school. As a first-generation college student, Elizabeth is greatly passionate about helping other students pursue higher education and finding ways to help serve and support underserved communities of students.   

Since working as a researcher under the “We Belong” project for the University of California, Santa Cruz, Elizabeth has helped to elevate immigrant voices, strengthen local community coalitions, and generate actionable knowledge to improve social services and inform policies that will ensure all community members of Santa Cruz County belong and thrive. In a similar manner, Elizabeth hopes to apply these skills and experience to help provide equity in the education system and ensure success for all students across California. She has a great interest in doing this with the Foundation while serving to assist on all their goals relating to the Vision for Success
